Demolition Squads out to clear government land in Gautam Budh Nagar District

Noida Authority, Greater Noida Authority and YEIDA on all out drive to clear encroachments

As the smell of the new Jewar airport was out in the market, groups of influential persons became active buying agricultural land and encroaching government land. Later, there were a number of schemes floated in the name of housing plots near the upcoming Jewar Airport.

The bulldozers of Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) reached Jhajhar village of Tappal and demolished all illegal encroachments from there. It was revealed that some local businessmen had bought large chunks of land in the area and the same land was being sold to unsuspecting buyers in shape of small plots for residential purposes.

Later, Gautam Budh Nagar District Magistrate Suhas LY said that all farmhouses &large-scale constructions on the floodplains illegal and ordered action, the Noida authority on demolished farmhouses built on the Yamuna floodplains.

The authority demolished 62 farmhouses during a day-long operation. Sources said that seven farmhouses were demolished in Gulawali village which were built on the Yamuna floodplains and the remaining 55 were demolished in Tilwada village near Sector 150 — a hub of newly-built group housing complexes.

The National Green Tribunal (NGT) in its multiple orders has ordered the demolition of all illegal constructions on the Yamuna floodplains as they damage the ecological integrity of the area. There are at least 1,000 illegal farmhouses on Yamuna floodplains, mostly in sectors 130, 131, 132, 133, 134 and 135.

The Greater Noida Authority was also quick to act on all illegal farmhouses made on the river bed of Yamuna and took no time to demolish them.

It is very evident that these structures were existing for years together and some high and mighty from the state of Uttar Pradesh had invested in these properties, and this demolition drive has made it clear that law is equal for one and all in the state.
