CBI arrests CPWD Assistant Engineer while accepting bribe of Rs. 1 Lakh

A trap was laid by CBI and the accused was caught red handed while accepting Rs. 1,00,000/- from the complainant as part payment.

Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested an Assistant Engineer, CPWD, Dehradun, Uttarakhand in a case relating to acceptance of Rs. 1,00,000/- as bribe from the complainant.

CBI registered a case against Assistant Engineer, CPWD, Dehradun on a complaint that accused demanded a bribe of Rs. 5.50 lakh for allowing the complainant to continue the construction work unhindered, of residential colony at Seemadwar, Dehradun.

A trap was laid by CBI and the accused was caught red handed while accepting Rs. 1,00,000/- from the complainant as part payment.

CBI conducted searches at the premises of the accused and cash of Rs. 20,49,500/- (approx.) was recovered from the residential premises of the accused. Certain incriminating documents were also recovered.

Accused will be produced before the Competent Court today.

Investigation is continuing.
